Path To Membership

UUA+Flaming+Chalice+ColorWelcoming Congregation LogoWe welcome you and invite you to come as you are and join this special faith community!

The Unitarian Universalist Congregational Society of Westborough (UUCSW) welcomes you to our community.  Joining us does not involve affirming a specific creed or dogma; instead it means making a commitment to being an active part of this congregation.  We ask only that you commit to grounding your relationship with us in respect, mutual support, and shared responsibility.  In other words, membership is defined by a covenant, a voluntary agreement about how we wish to be in relationship with one another.

As you consider membership, here are a few steps might consider:

  • Getting to know us by attending worship services, fellowship events, classes and other programs.
  • Enrolling your children in (or having them visit) our Religious Education program.
  • Speaking to someone on the Membership Committee, picking up a brochure from the table in the back of the sanctuary, reading our newsletter, and requesting a name tag.
  • Setting up an appointment with the minister.
  • Attending a committee meeting to see how we work and where your gifts and interests may best fit.
  • Attending a UU 101 class to meet other newcomers and share your spiritual journey, learn about Unitarian Universalist history and principles, our congregation, and the responsibilities and benefits of membership.
  • Signing the Membership Book.

Why Join?

  • Joining the congregation is a formal acknowledgement of commitment to our community.
  • Joining means lending your energy and talents to grow our young people, care for our elders, fight for our beliefs and passions, laugh together, cry together, and mark our transitions together.
  • Joining sustains and strengthens the community — and lets us each know that we share a common bond.
  • Joining a Unitarian Universalist congregation enables you to receive a subscription to the UU World magazine.
  • Being a member of UUCSW also allows you to vote on concerns vital to our church community. This includes approval of how we spend our money, leadership in this community, and important structural and institutional questions.
